Which, quite frankly, is a bit of a mouthful I know!
You might be interested to know about my 30 years' B2B client-facing experience, but probably not.
I'm by no means underplaying the value of a long career on the FMCG frontline.
But actually, it's probably the least interesting or stand-out thing about me (unless you count an unnatural obsession with the Oxford comma).
Because that's not what makes me great copywriter.
If you're interested, here's my story:
I was lucky (yes — lucky) to be born in the pre-digital era.
My natural talent for communication was first uncovered by my foster parents (don't panic, this is no sob-story. It was a short stint with a lovely family, while my mum recovered from PPP. I'm ok, honestly).
They found it extremely unnerving that a toddler (me) was able to communicate far better than their own 4 year old. Apparently, I was a bit too intelligent for my age.
This is by no means me blowing my own trumpet. For balance, I can confirm I was shit at maths and science. Literally ALL of my talent lay in the creative arts; Music, writing, painting, languages.
A right-brained nerd.
However, the above didn’t deter me from thinking a biz degree would be a great idea. Watered down by a foreign language so I could break up the tedium with a year of beer-drinking and Bratwurst-eating in Bavaria.
My dissertation was done on a typewriter (these days there would be some kind of ASMR vibe to be pulled from the click-clack of the keys on an Underwood Champion)
And so here we are.
A 30 year career compressed into 1 sentence, because it's not that exciting for you, as a potential client.
What I want you to know, is this; I've had a gift for communication since I was able to make a noise.
It's evolved through the lens of academia, global corporates, SMEs — life!
But my ability to distill a vibe, an energy — into words that reflect your brand personality is my USP.
I want to know your story, what makes you tick. Your values, hopes and dreams. Everything!
Building a picture of your brand, not just blindly following a brief, is what I do best.
If you believe copy is 'just words', then I'm sorry but we're not going to be right for each other.
Humans crave emotional connection — words with heart and meaning that resonate deeply.
It's built deeply into our psyche.
I'm an empath - it's my copywriting superpower! It means I can put myself in your shoes, understand your vibe, and get it onto paper in a way that makes you stand out from the crowd.
Oh, and I'm a Virgo, so my eye for detail is second to none. I can spot a typo or grammatical error from outer space!
I understand that sometimes as a solo biz owner, you don't have time to write everything yourself.
Or as a company on a tight budget, GenAI can seem tempting
But here's the thing...
AI writing doesn't work for personality-led biz owners & brands , because when your USP is your standout tone of voice, generic content won’t capture this, or create the emotional connection your audience is craving.
Humans need words with heart.
You know this instinctively, but the constant demands of the content mill mean you're cutting corners to save time, I get it.
But you're compromising your message.
It’s not about “good enough” copy with the “right prompts “. That’s just words on a page.
Humans need to connect with other humans, and the only way to do that is through emotion.
Why compromise your unique voice by outsourcing everything to GenAI?
There is another way
